Code Advisory Committees

Five Code Advisory Committees advise the Commission and its staff on proposed building standards:

• Accessibility Committee
• Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, and Energy Committee
• Building, Fire, and Other Committee
• Structural Design/Lateral Forces Committee
• Health Facilities Committee
• Green Building Committee

These Code Advisory Committees annually review the technical merit of building standards proposed by state agencies, and provide recommendations to the BSC.

Committee members are appointed by the BSC and represent the public, building design professionals, the building and construction industry, local government building officials, fire officials, and other affected parties. Members serve three-year terms and are not compensated, but are reimbursed for travel expenses.
